The follow are the top 20 systems design interview questions you can practice before your next interview. These are pretty basic question and as a developer, you should all ready be familiar with them but if not then make sure you practice before going for any system design interview.
It's important that you set the context of your work within the project, and it's defintely important to begin with the Project's purpose. The purpose of the project is to use environment A to achieve the function of function B and the purpose of function B is to utilise function C and function C to achieve the purpose of the project, so its safe to say the project is to achieve the purpose of the project which in turn is to achieve the function of function B. To illustrate the point further, lets call the project name X, let's say the purpose of the project is to use environment Z to achieve the function of function Y and the function of function Y is to utilise function W and function W is to to achieve the function of function X, in this case, project X requires environment Z to achieve the function of function Y. To continue with the example, lets say environment Z is to be a bigdata platform and environment Y is a financial data platform. Now environment Y could be used by environment Z for, let's say Price and Volume reporting.
Every system is made up of a few components and these components need to be put together to achieve the overall purpose of the system. This is why it's very important to understand the architectural requirements of the system, which require to be more composed of several sub-components and these sub-components need to work together to achieve the overall system.
