Emily Jenkins (Rene Zellweger) is an overworked social worker with 38 active cases. She's forced to take on another. Ten year-old Lillith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland) has been suffering. It leaves the movie simmering at a slow boil for much of the movie. That's fine by me. I like the reserved moody tone. It's telling the audience that something is wrong without hitting them over the head with it.
Overall, it was a creepy movie that was a little dark and strange. It managed to stick to its mood and maintain it. It tried to give the audience a lingering sense of dread. It worked to some degree. Anyone who enjoys a little chill and a slow simmer knows that this movie is for them.
